Funny or die: Clint Howard Reboots Pippi Longstocking with Milla Jovovich

When you think of Milla Jovovich, one of the most badass women in action and genre cinema, you don’t think freckles, crazy wayward pigtails and a monkey bestie, right? Not likely, and maybe we should keep it that way?

This past week, Funny or Die released a parody video in which Milla, who is currently working on the next Resident Evil flick, plays an older, gun-toting version of Pippi Longstocking, the nine-year-old heroine (and “strongest girl in the world”) seen in the series of books of the same name. Basically, the idea is a brain-dead screenwriter, played by a particularly wild-eyed Clint Howard, pitches a Pippi reboot movie called Pippi Longstocking: Crimson Justice and Milla plays the title character, complete with a very adult version of Pippi’s typically adorable and oversized outfit and, yes, stockings.

“Survivor” review and trailer

Milla Jovovich spends most of “Survivor,” a thriller about a terrorist plot, running from various people. She runs from London to New York and, ultimately, into the land of the preposterous.

Ms. Jovovich plays Kate, an American security expert screening visa applications in England who becomes suspicious about scientists who have been traveling to the United States. The more questions she asks, the more people try to kill her, including some who should be on her side. Soon only her colleagues Sam (Dylan McDermott) and Sally (Frances de la Tour) believe that she is onto something; everyone else thinks she’s a terrorist herself. Pierce Brosnan plays a feared assassin hired by the real conspirators to take her out.

The movie makes halfhearted efforts to give Kate and others back stories, but mostly it’s content to follow her as she runs around in subway tunnels, down a staircase and through city streets. The film, directed by James McTeigue, invests everything in a big finish at Times Square on New Year’s Eve, but the scene was apparently concocted by people who have never actually been in Times Square on New Year’s Eve and will be laughable to anyone who has.

The countdown ending is groan-inducing, as are a number of things leading up to it. Kate’s trip from Kennedy Airport to the heart of Times Square would be possible only with some sort of superpower. And let’s hope no actual terrorists watch this movie, because they’d learn that all you need to do to drive a truck full of poison gas to the Crossroads of the World while a million people are crammed in there is to wave a sheaf of official-looking papers at a random street cop.

“Survivor” is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). A bit of strong language and one particularly violent explosion.

And here you can watch the first trailer for “Survivor”

Watch the first trailer for “Survivor”

The Mirror has released the first trailer for James McTeigue’s action-packed thriller, “Survivor”. As the fast-paced trailer suggests ‘She is the first line of defence’ and now must find a way to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year’s Eve in New York’s Times Square.

As well was released new poster for “Survivor”. Check it in our gallery.

New trailer for Anarchy,’ Formerly ‘Cymbeline’

Today we have a new trailer for the upcoming “Anarchy” crime drama. The contemporary Shakespearean drama Cymbeline has changed its title to just Anarchy, which seems a little misguided.

Anarchy comes to theaters March 13th, 2015.
