Talks about designer collaborations and her upcoming holiday plans
Last night we braved the crowds—and the cold—for the Isabel Marant for H&M shopping event at their 5th Avenue flagship. While the esteemed designer couldn’t make it to New York — Milla Jovovich was on hand as one of the faces and ambassadors of the collaboration. After she secured some clothes for her daughter, we caught up with the supermodel to talk about her dream designer collaborator and upcoming holiday plans.
What’s your favorite piece from the Isabel Marant for H&M collection?
I have to say I love all the cableknits and the oversize coats. But then I also really like the gold lame pieces, like the dress I’m wearing. It’s hard to really say. That’s what I love about Isabel—there’s so many references going on—it’s like Peru meets the ’60s meets Studio 54. You’re like, “what?” but it works!
If you could collaborate with a designer on a collection, who would it be?
I have a friend named David Michael, who’s an amazing designer, and I would love to work with him on something. Or Isabel of course!
What would you want in the collection to reflect your personal style?
I think probably for me I would do a lot of structured pieces, I’m very into the japanese sensibility. Oversize coats and baggy trousers.
What’s your go-to every day look?
I love rolled up denim, flat shoes, a t-shirt and a nice sweater. Casual but chic, it has an effortless quality to it.
What’s your most prized possession in your wardrobe?
I have one coat, I was gifted from Chanel—it’s like $10,000. That’s a keeper. I saw it before I took a trip for them, and I grabbed it, I was like, “I’m gonna need this,” and they let me keep it! I couldn’t believe it.
What’s on your shopping list this season?
I’ve been really into boyfriend blazers, I like mixing tweeds with floral fabrics. The masculine and feminine look.
What’s your beauty secret?
It has to start from the inside. I’ve been juicing like crazy, vegetable juice all day long—instead of drinking coffee. I love green juice, and it’s amazing how much more energy I have, my skin looks better. Cleansing and moisturizing every morning and night is also really important, but you can’t just depend on your creams. I have to do more for the inside so it shows on the outside.
Any fun plans for the holidays?
My family and I are gonna stay home for Christmas and go skiing for New Years. It’s the 2nd year for my daughter, and she loved it last year—so we don’t want her to lose everything she’s learned.
Whats one of your favorite holiday traditions?
Bringing all 45 members of my crazy family together, and watching them argue is super awesome. It’s good to do it just once a year.
