“Survivor” review and trailer

Milla Jovovich spends most of “Survivor,” a thriller about a terrorist plot, running from various people. She runs from London to New York and, ultimately, into the land of the preposterous.

Ms. Jovovich plays Kate, an American security expert screening visa applications in England who becomes suspicious about scientists who have been traveling to the United States. The more questions she asks, the more people try to kill her, including some who should be on her side. Soon only her colleagues Sam (Dylan McDermott) and Sally (Frances de la Tour) believe that she is onto something; everyone else thinks she’s a terrorist herself. Pierce Brosnan plays a feared assassin hired by the real conspirators to take her out.

The movie makes halfhearted efforts to give Kate and others back stories, but mostly it’s content to follow her as she runs around in subway tunnels, down a staircase and through city streets. The film, directed by James McTeigue, invests everything in a big finish at Times Square on New Year’s Eve, but the scene was apparently concocted by people who have never actually been in Times Square on New Year’s Eve and will be laughable to anyone who has.

The countdown ending is groan-inducing, as are a number of things leading up to it. Kate’s trip from Kennedy Airport to the heart of Times Square would be possible only with some sort of superpower. And let’s hope no actual terrorists watch this movie, because they’d learn that all you need to do to drive a truck full of poison gas to the Crossroads of the World while a million people are crammed in there is to wave a sheaf of official-looking papers at a random street cop.

“Survivor” is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). A bit of strong language and one particularly violent explosion.

Alchemy Acquires thriller ‘Survivor’

Distribution company Alchemy has acquired the U.S. rights for Survivor, starring Jovovich and several other Hollywood stars well-versed in thrillers. She plays a Foreign Services officer who tries to prevent a terrorist attack in New York but then has to flee for her life after being accused of crimes she did not commit.

Survivor does not have a set U.S. release date due to its recent acquisition, but it’s due for release in the UK on July 10.

Milla Jovovich Shoots “Survivor” at Heathrow Airport

Milla Jovovich was spotted filming scenes for her new movie, action-thriller Survivor, at London’s Heathrow Airport on Monday and if the fake scratches on her face are anything to go by, Milla’s character is in a tight spot. Milla stars as a discredited U.S. agent, based in the UK, trying to stop a terrorist attack in New York’s Times Square while clearing her own name.

But it’s nothing the former model shouldn’t be able to cope with. She built her movie career out of her role as action heroine Alice in the Resident Evil franchise, where she met her director-producer husband, Paul W. S. Anderson. For her role, Milla was dressed in a low-key blue-and-white striped T-shirt under a black thigh-length coat teamed with blue skinny jeans and black boots as she mingled in with passengers waiting to check in.

The 38-year-old actress sported some cuts on her face for the movie about a Foreign Service Officer who tries to prevent a terrorist attack set in New York, but is forced to go on the run after she is framed for crimes she didn’t commit.

“Good morning! Another day, another amazing, creepy tree! #treeporn #survivormovie #londondiary” Milla tweeted the next morning, along with a pic of the creepy tree – check it out below!
